When walking into D's Place in Soulard, located on 9th and Barton, visitors will quickly realize they have stepped into a place all its own. The location, which has been serving drinks and food to Soulard area residents for over a hundred years, attracts patrons of all types.

Owners Greg Brown and Dan Shields quit their corporate jobs to purchase the location in the hopes of keeping its legacy as a welcoming neighborhood establishment. "We both moved into a house nearby and saw the bar was run-down," said Shields, "We made an offer to purchase, they accepted, we then made the necessary improvements." Since Brown and Shields purchased the location, Soulard area residents, from corporate employees to construction workers have flocked to the bar. "All walks of life, find themselves at D's Place," said Brown. "It is like Cheers. It's a family here."

While D's Place offers Karaoke and trivia on various nights, the Juke Box is one the most favored attractions. The Juke Box is also an indicator of the range of people attracted to the Soulard Bar. In just one evening patrons might hear a range of genres including top 40, rock, and country. Patrons at D's Place can find themselves amused with numerous arcade games and darts. The Soulard bar also has four televisions hung throughout so patrons can watch sporting events with friends. D's Place also has an extensive menu which includes homemade ½ pound angus burgers, pizzas, and wings.

The bar has also given Brown and Shields a chance to give back to the Soulard neighborhood. In the past they have worked with organizations such as the MDA, Soulard Garden Co-op, SRG, Red Cross, Autism Speaks, and the Boys Club, to name a few. They have also held benefits for members of the community who were in need. Overall, if you are looking for an unpretentious neighborhood bar with very reasonable prices, great food, and great people, then D’s Place is your place.
